Indication :
An indication that ringer lactate solution is required is blood loss, including that induced by trauma or surgery. It is used to reintroduce fluid quickly into the body and given through intravenous solutions, subcutaneously, and at times orally. The lactate acts as a buffer for acids. It is used on animals as well as humans, and the quantity is calculated based on estimated loss and the level of deficiency. It was developed by Sydney Ringer in the 1880s, and later slightly changed with the addition of lactate, by Alexis Hartmann.
